A fantastic dog park just opened in New Jersey that might be worth checking out

You're ready to drive your kids to Great Adventure or Hershey Park. Well, your dog might be hoping for the same thing when he comes to a new dog park that just opened in New Jersey.

Before I share the where, I want to tell you the what.

It's a dog park that's existed before, but at a cost of $775,000 and two and a half years to build, you might as well say it's an entirely new doggy playground. It has everything. Fence to separate smaller dogs from larger dogs. Agility equipment for dogs to have fun with.

There is a water fountain at the gate for dogs to drink from and pools at different heights to accommodate dogs of all sizes. There is a pavilion. There are benches. There are picnic tables for spectators.

If this all sounds like a place where dogs think they've died and gone to doggie heaven, that's because it is. It is located in Copper River Park in Camden County. It replaces a previous dog park that was there previously.

“There was great demand, but a poor product,” Camden County Commissioner Jeffrey Nash was quoted as saying by NJ PEN. “Dog parks are an important part of the community and a real one was needed.”

The park's redevelopment began with new stonework, sidewalks, curbs and handicapped parking at the entrance and continued across the path with new topsoil, lawns, irrigation, etc.

The planning took over two years and the groundbreaking took place six months ago. The ribbon cutting ceremony took place on Thursday, with many good boys and girls present at the grand opening.

Taking pet ownership seriously might make you want to move to Camden County.
