Zachary Vanier made the breakthrough and took his first victory in the Porsche Carrera Cup North America in an eventful second race of the weekend at the Miami International Autodrome.

Vanier drove his No. 9 JDX Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup to a narrow victory by 0.232 seconds ahead of his teammate and pole-sitter Alex Sedgwick, who lost the lead at the start to the Canadian.

Sedgwick briefly regained the top position in the final five-minute shootout to the finish, but had to hand the position back to Vanier due to exceeding the track limits.

It was Vanier's first victory in the Carrera Cup North America in only his fourth start in the highly competitive one-make cup series.

Ryan Yardley completed the overall and Pro class podiums in the No. 78 Topp Racing Performance Prosche ahead of Gus Burton's MDK Motorsports entry and the Baby Bull Racing Porsche driven by Michael Cooper.

Moisey Uretsky secured his second Pro-Am class win of his career for Baby Bull, while Mark Kvamme won the weekend with first-class honors in the Masters in his MDK Porsche

More than half of the race was driven behind the safety car after a multi-car pileup at the start involving Jordan Wallace, Alan Metni, Michael Verhagen, Madeline Steward and Tom Collingwood.

This was followed less than a lap after racing resumed by an accident by Dan Clarke, which resulted in damage to the barrier.

The race restarted with less than six minutes to go and further incidents broke out at the makeshift circuit outside Miami.

Race one winner Loek Hartog finished seventh in his Kellymoss Porsche and provisionally retains his points lead for next month's races in Montreal, also alongside Formula 1.
