When it comes to living in Utah, you probably feel like it was never too “dangerous,” right? Well, here in Utah we are actually a pretty safe state, ranking at number 47 on the list of most dangerous states, followed by Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Texas and Alabama THE MOST dangerous in the country. But within Utah, one of the safest states in the country, the CITIES are the most dangerous? In this article we will break down the top 10 MOST DANGEROUS Cities in Utah based on the following criteria:

  • murder
  • Rape
  • robbery
  • attack
  • Burglary
  • theft
  • Vehicle theft

MOST DANGEROUS CITIES IN UTAH:

1. SOUTH SALT LAKE:

Just over 10 years ago, South Salt Lake had more violent crime per capita than any other city in Utah. The scariest part? Most of them were murders. South Salt Lake is the area between Downtown Salt Lake and Murray. Towns like Millcreek and Sugarhouse are considered South Salt Lake.

2. SALT LAKE CITY:

Salt Lake City ranked first in property crimes while ranking second in violent crimes. The chance of being involved in a crime in SLC is approximately 1 in 12! This is the highest in the state.

3. OGDEN:

In Ogden, the chance of being involved in a crime is 1 in 20. Ogden ranks #3 for both violent crimes and property crimes. A 5% chance of being involved in a crime doesn't sound all that great.. . but that's a bit too much for me!

4.WASHINGTON:

Amazingly, Washington, Utah comes in at number 4 on this list. Washington has the eighth-highest probability of being involved in a violent crime. But here it is REAL SHOCKER… A few years ago, Washington had this THIRD Murders across the state!

5. TOOLS:

In Tooele they performed well with the fourth highest number of property crimes and the fifth highest number of violent crimes! In Tooele the chance of being involved in a crime is 1 in 22!

6. BRIGHAM CITY:

Brigham City is just like Tooele, but the opposite! They rank 4th for violent crimes and 5th for property crimes! But Brigham City isn't just known for its peaches. The chance of being involved in a crime is 1 in 25. That's 4%.

7. CEDAR CITY:

The second southern Utah city on this list, home of Southern Utah University: Cedar City. Cedar ranked 14th on the list for property crimes, but 5th on the list for murders and 6th for violent crimes per capita.

8. SANDY:

Another city in Salt Lake County, Sandy, Utah! Sandy ranked 8th in murders and total crime per capita. These violent crimes were assault… which is better than murder in my opinion! But robberies and rapes also occurred in large numbers.

9. WEST JORDAN:

West Jordan ranked 11th on the state's list of violent crimes, and there were 186 violent crimes per 100,000 residents. That doesn't sound right A PITY.

10. PAYSON:

Payson is the home of Footloose, but there's more than just singing and dancing! Payson came in at number 22 on the violent crime list… but SHOCKING No. 2 on the murder list! YIKES!
