Georgia mother beaten to death by pack of 'aggressive dogs'

A mother was mauled to death by a pack of dogs that attacked her and her three children outside a middle school in Georgia – just days before Mother's Day.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the dogs pounced on the family Thursday as they waited at a bus stop behind Brooks County Middle School in Quitman.

Courtney Williams, 35, was found dead in a nearby yard.

“When officers arrived, they encountered several aggressive dogs on the property,” the GBI said.

Her children were hospitalized with injuries, and her son suffered multiple cuts while confronting the dogs to save his little sister's life, according to the family.

“Kayden got Sissy out of harm's way, he saved her, but took on the dogs himself,” Williams' sister-in-law Crystal Cox said on Facebook.

She shared several graphic images that showed the boy suffered multiple deep wounds to his arms, legs and head.

Williams' other son stormed into school when the dogs attacked his family, flagging down a man – who Cox called “an angel” – who helped drive the dogs away from the boy and take her to the hospital.

Kayden was “injured pretty badly,” Cox said, but all three are now recovering at her home.

It's not clear what breed of dog the bloodthirsty dogs were, but neighbors told WALB they had been complaining for some time about the need for animal control in the area.

“Dogs are being abandoned all over the county and no one can get help with them because there is no animal control in the county. I pray for this woman's family. This is so sad,” a resident told the outlet.

Another lamented the timing of the tragedy – just three days before Mother's Day.

“I feel for the family and the children because now they have to celebrate Mother's Day without their mother,” she said.

The GBI is conducting an autopsy to determine Williams' official cause of death.
