The South Maui Community Plan welcomes resident feedback

KAHULUI, Hawaii – The Maui Planning Commission invites residents to a community meeting on May 14 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. to discuss the latest draft South Maui Community Plan.

The meeting will be held in person at the Malcom Center at 1305 N. Holopono Street, Suite 5 in Kihei and online via WebEx video conference.

The South Maui Community Plan is a community-specific land use plan that provides guidance for the future development and conservation of South Maui over a 20-year period. According to a news release, the updated plan focuses on land use and development to bring the community's vision of South Maui to life.

The South Maui Community Plan Advisory Committee has voted to forward its recommendations on the draft plan to the Maui Planning Commission after the review is completed on November 1, 2023. The draft plan containing CPAC's recommendations is available on the above website.

The Maui Planning Commission expects the review of the draft plan to include nine meetings through September. At that time, the commission will vote to forward its recommendations to the Maui County Council.

All Commission meetings, including the public hearing, are open to the public for testimony on specific agenda items. Agendas, schedule and general information can be found on the We are South Maui website.
