Austin, Texas – The No. 20 Georgia men's golf team sits in fifth place after the first round of the NCAA Austin Regional and posted an even-par total of 284 on Monday afternoon at the University of Texas Golf Club.

Five quick facts

• PhD student Connor Creasy put the team ahead in the first round with a score of two under par and is tied at 10thTh individually. Before play was suspended due to a lightning strike, Creasy was tied for second at four under.
• Creasy was one of four Bulldogs to total four birdies in the opening round, along with Graduate Ben van Wyk and Junior Buck Brumlow. Four birdies gave the trio 15th placeTh most in the 75 range.
• Georgia also tallied an even-par 71 from Senior Caleb Manuel and a pair of Brumlow and van Wyk '72s.
• All four of the Bulldogs' scores finished at even par or better through the first nine holes.
• Georgia is looking to advance to the NCAA Championship for a fifth and 26th straight seasonTh time in the program's history.

“We got off to a good start, but we have to play consistently again,” said head coach Chris Haack said. “We need to refocus our focus and continue to focus on playing solid golf. We started well, but we still have two more laps to go. We have to pitch again tomorrow and continue to make progress.”


Georgia will join BYU and Utah in the second round on hole number 10 on Tuesday, May 14 at 9 a.m. ET.

The top five teams from each of the five NCAA Regionals will qualify for the 30-team NCAA Championships at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California, May 24-29. The lowest scoring individual player in each region whose team does not advance will also receive a spot at the NCAA Championships to compete individually.
