Georgia softball live scores updates in the second round of the NCAA Regional

Georgia softball advances to the second round of the NCAA Athens Regional after defeating UNCW 8-0 on Friday afternoon.

The Bulldogs face Liberty on Saturday at 11 a.m. on ESPN+. The Lady Flames defeated Charlotte 6-3 in their first game on Friday afternoon.

Because it is a double-elimination tournament, the winner of Georgia's second round advances to the finals and the loser gets another shot at glory at 6 p.m. against the winner of the UNCW-Charlotte game at 3:30 p.m .

The winner of the entire Athens Regional advances to the Super Regionals against the winner of the Los Angeles Regional, which is home to No. 6 national seeds UCLA, Grand Canyon, San Diego State and Virginia Tech.

This is the second time Georgia has hosted back-to-back regionals since hosting three times between 2014 and 2016. It is the 23rd straight NCAA Tournament that Georgia has hosted, not including the canceled 2020 season. Georgia advanced to the inter-regional rounds last year. The Bulldogs have made it to the Women's College World Series five times, most recently in 2021, and have never taken home the title.
