Ohio State is already helping develop running back Quinshon Judkins

TreVeyon Henderson has taken on more of a leadership role as a senior. Back in February, head coach Ryan Day discussed how Henderson holds his teammates accountable.

“He has a different look in his eyes, and I think that’s important,” Day said at the time. “He’s been to these games before. He knows.”

This is the responsible, taking-charge side of Henderson. However, he showed his selflessness when Day first spoke to him about the possible signing of Ole Miss star running back Quinshon Judkins earlier this offseason. Henderson shopped.

The same was true for Judkins, who knew he would be joining Henderson, one of the most well-known and dynamic playmakers on the Ohio State roster, in the Buckeyes' backfield.

To say Day was impressed with Henderson's approach would be an understatement. Now that he's spent more time with Judkins, he can also vouch for the transfer's early growth at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.

“I even see a change in him and the way he approaches practice every day, the way he trained from the first day to the last practice in the spring,” Day said Wednesday on 97.1 The Fan's Bishop and Friends.

“And just the fact of being in the city of Columbus, being close to Ohio State, being on this stage, being close to the resources that we have and, more importantly, close of the people we have just raises your level a little. And I think you’re starting to see that with him.”

Judkins carried the ball at least 271 times in each of his two seasons at Ole Miss, where he also had more than 1,000 rushing yards and 17 total touchdowns in both years. He knows his workload will decrease this season. Judkins came with a team-first attitude.

Earlier this month, he gave back to his alma mater when he returned to his hometown of Pike Road, Alabama.

The Buckeyes running back paid some of his zero earnings forward, donating $10,000 to the Pike Road QB Club on Tuesday.

Judkins has spent more than four months in Columbus and clearly fits right into what the Buckeyes have already built.

What additional transfer safety Keenan Nelson Jr. means for the Buckeyes

Ohio State gained much-needed depth at safety with the addition of South Carolina transfer safety Keenan Nelson Jr., who has started four games in 15 total appearances over the last two seasons.

After redshirting his freshman year, he joins the Buckeyes and still has three years of play left.

According to Pro Football Focus, Nelson also has 82 special teams snaps, most of them on kickoff returns and kickoff coverage.

Nelson is the seventh scholarship player on the roster. The others are Lathan Ransom, Caleb Downs, Malik Hartford, Jayden Bonsu, Jaylen McClain and Leroy Roker.

Ohio State Basketball Recruiting: Preparing for the Spring Live Phase

The Ohio State men's basketball team is suspended and occupied for its only live phase in the spring. The Buckeyes' recruiting staff will be on hand this weekend not only at the Nike EYBL in Indianapolis, but also at the Adidas 3SSB event in Bryan, Texas.

Head coach Jake Diebler is still putting the finishing touches on his 2024-25 roster and dugout, except this weekend is about keeping an eye on the next fleet of promising high school students, particularly those in the 2025 class.

Lettermen Row set the stage for the spring live phase with a look at the prospects the Buckeyes will have on the radar in both Indianapolis and Bryan, Texas.
