Softball's Hoffner earns 2024 NFCA All-Mideast Region Third Team honors

– Junior softball catcher from Ohio Emma Hoffner has been named to the 2024 NFCA All-Mideast Region third team, the organization announced this afternoon (May 16).

Hoffner (New Stanton, Pa.) played and started all 55 games behind the plate for the Bobcats during the 2024 season. Hoffner led Ohio with a .325 batting average, with 52 hits, 12 doubles, a triple and five home runs during the season. She drove in 30 runs and scored 32 points while recording a .506 batting average. Hoffner drew 20 walks, had a .410 on-base percentage and stole all four bases she attempted. Behind the plate, Hoffner was a brick wall, recording a .982 fielding percentage with 271 catches, 237 putouts, 29 assists and five errors, while throwing out a total of 11 runners.

In MAC play, Hoffner hit .301 with 25 hits in 83 at-bats. She recorded six doubles, four home runs and 19 RBI while scoring 25 runs. She had a slugging percentage of .518 and a base percentage of .356. Behind the plate, Hoffner had a .977 fielding percentage, with 131 catches, 110 putouts, 18 assists and three errors while striking out six base runners.

Hoffner finished with 12 multi-hit games, four multi-RBI games and scored multiple runs in five games. Hoffner went 3-for-4 with a grand slam and four RBI against Akron on April 30 and 3-for-3 with a home run and four RBI on April 6 against NIU.

The awards honor student softball athletes from the association's ten regions who were selected to the first, second and third teams. NFCA member head coaches from each region nominated student-athletes and voted for the teams. All honored student-athletes are now eligible for the 2024 NFCA Division I All-America squad.

The 2024 NFCA Division I All-America teams, as voted by the NFCA DI All-American Committee, will be announced on May 31.
