Eleanor Gulden Obituary – Lawrence, NJ

LAWRENCE – Eleanor C. Gulden, 86, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday.

A lifelong resident of Lawrence and a 1941 graduate of Trenton High School, she worked as an accountant at John A. Roebling & Sons before helping build her new home and starting a family.

Eleanor was a devoted mother and grandmother who sought to instill in her children the importance of faith and prayer, patriotism, education and hard work, as well as an appreciation for history, diversity, culture and art. She enjoyed visiting museums, galleries, music concerts, theaters, craft exhibitions and festivals of all kinds. Her greatest passion was observing the beauty of nature, especially the ever-changing sky, flowers, gardens, trees and hummingbirds that live throughout the year visited the bird feeders in their garden.

She had bright eyes, an engaging smile and a wonderful disposition that endeared her to many of her neighbors and friends at Capital Health Cardiac Rehabilitation Facility and Lawrence Senior Center.

Eleanor was a member of the Church of St. Ann, the National Railway Historical Society and the AARP. Her favorite activities were reading, playing Scrabble and solving word puzzles. She particularly enjoyed spending time with family members and visiting places with them.

She was born in Trenton, the daughter of the late Marion H. and John C. Mooney. She was also preceded in death by her brother, John C. Mooney Jr., and her husbands, Richard G. Henne and Edward R. Gulden. She is survived by her favorite aunt, Anne Fisher of Los Altos, California; beloved sister-in-law Betsy Mooney of Mesa AZ; daughters, Marion L. Angell of Langhorne, Pa.; Janet V., Barbara A. and Sandra E. Henne, all of Lawrence; Beverly J. Ritorto (Bart), of Bordentown; and sons, Richard G. Henne, Jr. (Susan) of Mesa, Arizona; Ronald N. Henne (Leslie) of Franklin Park; John E. Gulden (Michele) of Mansfield and Conrad Gulden (Sarah) of Wrightstown, NJ: also by stepchildren, Robert E. Gulden (Cathy) of New Castle, DE; Eileen Von Schmidt (Tom) of Browns Mills and Nancy S. Gulden of Burlington and their families.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Monica L. Seabridge (John) of Titusville; Cheri L. Heyse of Lawrence; David and Steven Henne of Mesa, Arizona; Sean, Arielle, Brian, Brad, Brandon, Derek, Arlynne and Korrynn Claire Gulden and great-grandchildren Ryan and Scott Seabridge and Lily Faye Gulden; also by loving sisters-in-law Caryl Ann Kelley, Betty Lou Henne and Marsha Bradford; loving nieces, Karen Korte, Kathleen Coffee and a close nephew, Peter Coffee, as well as many paternal cousins, nieces and nephews. She will be missed terribly by all who knew her and those she loved will never forget her.
