Orlando, Florida – William Benjamin Carswell, a nurse and resident of Orlando, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on May 13, 2021 at the age of 36. His loved ones were by his side.

William was born on October 2, 1984 at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan. He graduated from Choctawhatchee Senior High School in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. William received his Associate of Science in Nursing from Seminole State College. He received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from the University of Central Florida.

William became a certified pharmacy technician and considered a career in pharmacy before deciding to follow in his mother's footsteps and become a nurse. William worked as a registered nurse at Orlando Regional Healthcare; a nurse at NuMale Medical Center in Orlando; and nurse at Men's Health in Boston, MA. During his training, William developed a keen interest in hormone therapy and dedicated his professional life to supporting those who wanted to improve their physical health and well-being.

William was an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) with Advanced Metabolic Endocrinology certification and worked independently in Orlando.

Throughout his life, William enjoyed swimming, competing in championships in middle and high school, and later coaching other athletes in training for marathons while in college. Despite his love of sweets and eating with friends, William was also an avid sportsman. William made a home in Orlando, fostered lifelong friendships, traveled, and enjoyed life without prejudice.

Known for his tall stature, kind heart, quirky sense of humor and warm smile, William will be remembered as a shining light and constant friend to all who knew him. He inspired those around him to be kind to others and strive to be their best.

He is survived by his mother, Betty Carswell, RN; his father, Robert Charles Carswell; his older sister, Ashley Alena Carswell; his stepfather, Lee Moore; his maternal grandmother, Metterean Robinson; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. (CST) at the Christian Memorial Funeral Home in Graceville, FL. Family and friends will then celebrate William's life at his maternal grandmother's home in Graceville, Florida.
