A Georgia football player was arrested over the weekend for reckless driving.

Sacovie White, a freshman starting his first season at Georgia, was arrested early Saturday morning after being pulled over by Athens-Clarke County police. Officers stopped White after White was observed driving the wrong way down a one-way street.

Clarke County Jail records show White was charged with reckless driving and one-way traffic at 3:04 a.m. He was released an hour later on bail totaling $26, according to Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner-Herald.

Steve Gates, who coached White at Cass High School in Cartersville, Georgia, told the Athens Banner-Herald that he was glad White didn't drink.

“He made a mistake when he turned onto a one-way street. “What I'm proud of is that there was no drunkenness or speeding, which of course I would have been disappointed with,” Gates said. “But a traffic violation that happens on a regular basis, I bet he won’t drive on that road again.”

White, a 3-star recruit, enrolled early at Georgia and has had a solid spring. He scored a 26-yard touchdown in Georgia's spring game last month.

White is the second Georgia player arrested in the last two months.
