Ohio State Buckeyes ex Mike Conley receives high praise from MVP Nikola Jokic

Former Ohio State Buckeyes guard Michael Conley reached the conference finals once during his successful time with the Memphis Grizzlies, but his journey back to that stage with the Minnesota Timberwolves this season was even more special.

Conley hit a handful of great shots – several of them with the shot clock siren – in a historic Game 7 against the defending champion Denver Nuggets at Ball Arena on Sunday. The Wolves rallied from a 20-point deficit in the second half to secure a 98-90 victory. The 36-year-old Conley finished the game with 10 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

Although Minnesota stars Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns understandably get most of the attention, Nuggets star and three-time MVP Nikola Jokic had high praise for Conley after Game 7.

“I think they're built to beat us,” Jokic said of the Timberwolves. “I mean, just look at their roster. They've got basically two All-Stars … (and) Mike Conley, who's probably the most underrated player in the NBA. I mean, I love the guy. He's so good, he always makes the right play.”

Conley is listed as questionable for Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals on Wednesday against the Dallas Mavericks because of an Achilles tendon injury. He played through the injury in Game 7, but it remains to be seen whether the Wolves will use him again at the start of the next series.

The meeting point is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET.
