UMass' Knote selected to All-New England First Team

AMHERST, Mass. – Goalkeeper of the University of Massachusetts Matt Knote was named to the NEILA All-New England First Team, it was recently announced. Knote receives the award for the second time in his career after already earning a spot on the First Team in 2023.

Previously, Knote was named an Honorable Mention USA Lacrosse All-American this spring. He earned a major conference honor for the second consecutive year in 2024 after being named the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year in 2023. The Speonk, New York, native earned his fourth All-Conference honor this season after also being named to the CAA First Team in 2021 and 2022 and the A-10 First Team in 2023.

In 2024, Knote finished his final collegiate season ranked 13th nationally in save percentage (.553), second in the A-10, and leading the conference in save percentage per game at 13.00, good for 13th nationally, while ranking 22nd nationally in goals-against average (10.68).

He made 12 double-digit saves for a total of 185 stops on the year. He also recorded 31 ground balls and two forced turnovers. Knote scored a highlight-reel goal against Vermont on March 9, the first of his career.

Knote finished his career with the Gorillas after playing in 59 games and totaling 3,507:32 minutes over five seasons. He posted a 10.47 goals-against average and a .551 save percentage with a 31-28 record and leaves UMass third all-time with 752 saves.
