The afternoon and evening promise to be drier, with a mix of sun and clouds and temperatures around 27 degrees – a welcome change from the oppressive heat.

A weather warning has been issued for Thursday as more severe storms are expected. The timing of the storms is very difficult but at the moment it looks like we will have the first round on Thursday morning followed by another late Thursday into Friday morning.

As we saw yesterday, morning convection will influence the intensity and path of late-day convection. The main hazards are heavy hail, damaging winds, cyclones and flooding, but an cyclone tornado cannot be ruled out.

There is still a chance of rain and storms over the weekend, but there should also be longer dry periods between the storm surges.

During the night from Saturday to Sunday we will be closely monitoring whether there will be a series of potentially severe storms.

At the beginning of next week the temperatures will rise again.
