Western Alaska Minerals begins field work and prepares for drilling

TUCSON, AZ / ACCESSWIRE / May 30, 2024 / Minerals from Western Alaska (The “Pursue” or “WAM“) (TSXV:WAM) is pleased to announce that crews have been mobilized to the Illinois Creek Camp on the Company's 100% owned Illinois Creek property in preparation for the 2024 drilling season.

CEO Kit Marrs said: “We are pleased to be able to immediately deploy the proceeds from our recently completed (concurrent) financings. Gross proceeds of $8.7 million were raised between April and May and we are on track to commence drilling on an anticipated June

Mr. Marrs continued, “This year’s program will be Western Alaska Minerals’ third season of drilling focused on the Carbonate Replacement Deposit (CRD). Since we encountered over 500 g/t silver over 9.1 m (true width) late in the 2021 season, we have delineated a very high-grade silver-zinc-lead ‘arm’ or ‘tentacle’ of the system. Our maiden NI 43-101 resource estimate, released in February of this year, returns 75 million ounces at 980 g/t AgEq. CRD projects typically comprise extensive systems with interconnected elements or parallel mineralized ‘tentacle’ deposits. The discovery of one deposit suggests the likelihood of additional deposits nearby, so our goal for 2024 is to expose the mineralized links to the past producing open pit gold mine 6 km to the southwest.”

Crews were mobilized on May 14 to open camp, begin clearing the runway, and prepare the drill pads for the newly created CRD expansion targets at LH and Warm Springs. Supply flights are on schedule to deliver personnel, including the geotechnical team and equipment, within a week.

Further information on the technical strategy will follow.

About WAM

Our mission is to advance a mineable and scalable CRD that will ultimately reshape the mineral landscape of Western Alaska and create a new CRD district.

The 100% owned claims cover 73,120 acres (114.25 square miles or 29,591 hectares) approximately 45 km east of a seagoing section of the Yukon River. WAM's intact mineralized CRD system includes the (past producing) Illinois Creek gold-silver mine, the north-open, high-grade Waterpump Creek silver-lead-zinc deposit and the Honker gold deposit. Located 25 km northeast of the Illinois Creek CRD are the Round Top copper deposit and the TG North CRD deposit. All deposits were originally discovered by Anaconda Minerals Co. in the early 1980s. Since 2010, WAM, along with its predecessor company, Western Alaska Copper & Gold, has reconsolidated the Anaconda land package and is exploring the district.

With headquarters in Alaska and Arizona, WAM brings together a team of experienced professionals with a shared vision to break new ground in mineral exploration. Our strategic approach is based on cutting-edge technology, innovative techniques and a deep understanding of the geological intricacies of the region.
