Florida State vs. Stetson prediction for the NCAA baseball regional game

After being unable to participate in the NCAA baseball tournament last year, Florida State University's baseball team is hosting its regional championships there for the first time in six years.

The Seminoles (42-15) enter the tournament as number 8 and want to set the tone against Stetson (40-20) on Friday at noon in Dick Howser Stadium.

When the Seminoles face No. 3 Central Florida, head coach Link Jarrett will face his former assistant Rich Wallace. UCF will face No. 2 Alabama at 6 p.m. The Knights beat the Seminoles in a two-game series last year.

Here’s how we predicted the Seminoles’ performance in the NCAA Tallahassee Regional:

Peter Holland Jr., FSU reporter

No. 8 Florida State could have one of the best offenses in baseball and has a good chance of winning the regional at home. Each of its nine batters can hit at least one home run in a game. Stetson, however, is not a team to take lightly. Both teams know each other well.

The Hatters beat the Seminoles 10-5 to split the series nearly three weeks ago. FSU beat the Hatters 1-0 on March 19. For FSU, pitching will be key, especially out of the bullpen. The Seminoles cannot afford to throw freebies or put runners on base. It will be to FSU's advantage if the pitching staff performs well in the important innings against Stetson and builds momentum when facing Alabama or UCF, as it did in the ACC tournament.
