(HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) — Centenary Stage Company is now accepting interviews for the Young Performers Workshop Summer 2024 Musical Theatre Intensive. The program's registration deadline is July 12, 2024. In-person interviews will be held on Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2, 2024 at the Little Theatre, 400 Jefferson Street in Hackettstown, by appointment between 4:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Centenary Stage Company's critically acclaimed Young Performers Workshop is seeking new and returning applicants for the 2024 summer program. YPW's summer session will last 5 weeks, beginning July 15th and ending August 18th. The session will culminate with a live performance opportunity for students in August. The show(s) that YPW students will put together will be selected at the beginning of the program based on the number of students and available talent. The application deadline for all interested new and returning applicants is July 12th.

New students must attend an initial interview with the program director via phone, Zoom call, or in-person appointments prior to being admitted to their enrollment. However, all students are accepted into the program. All new applicants must attend an interview to be accepted into the program. The initial interview will discuss in detail the applicant's commitment, previous educational experience, goals, and expectations. Parental questions and concerns will also be addressed.

Auditions will then be held on the first day to determine the level of singing and dancing ability. Students will be placed in the appropriate class based on audition status and will perform at the Summer Festival of Shows. These auditions and the first day of practice will be held at Centenary's Lackland Dance Studio at 715 Grand Ave in Hackettstown, NJ. The following days will be held at the Little Theater at 400 Jefferson Street. Contact the Centenary Stage Company box office at (908) 979-0900 as early as possible to schedule an interview.

Acclaimed as a “national treasure,” Centenary Stage Company's Young Performers Workshop (YPW) is a musical training program for children ages 8 to 18 and operates under the auspices of Centenary Stage Company, a nonprofit equity theater company based at Centenary University. Dedicated to enriching the lives of young people through the use of the theater arts, the Young Performers Workshop is one of the few youth theater programs that offers both formal training and hands-on production experience. Career-focused students can prepare for the rigors of a professional career; however, students who do not aspire to professional careers also benefit from the program, which emphasizes discipline, self-esteem, and communication skills development. As always, the YPW program has been designed to meet the needs of beginning, intermediate, and professional performers.
