Governor Greg Abbott appoints three members to the Texas Board of Nursing

Texas (KAUZ) – Governor Greg Abbott has appointed three professionals to the Texas Board of Nursing.

The three people chosen for the bard are the following:

  • Manny Cavazos
  • Mary Grace Landrum
  • Nancy Lewis

The Texas Board of Nursing oversees the practice of professional nursing, the examination of students, and standards of professional conduct for licensees. The board also prescribes and publishes minimum requirements and standards for course study in various nursing degree programs.

Manny Cavazos is a practicing attorney specializing in oil and natural gas and a certified public accountant. He is treasurer of the Tejano Genealogical Society of Austin and a member of the State Bar of California, the American Bar Association, and the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy. Cavazos received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin (UT) and a Juris Doctor from Taft Law School.

His term of office ends on 31 January 2025

Mary Grace Landrum has worked as an independent leadership consultant since 1998. She is a member of the Houston West Chamber of Commerce Salute to Veterans Committee, a member of the Advisory Board of Catholic Charities of Galveston-Houston, and a member of the Corporate Advisory Board of Houston Community College. She is the honorary chair of the Corporate Telelink Network, a past president of the Association for Talent Development of Houston, a past trustee of the Spring Branch Independent School District, and a past director of community outreach for the Memorial Spring Branch Rotary Club. Landrum received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Education from Franciscan University and a Master of Education from UT Austin.

Their term of office ends on 31 January 2027

Nancy Lewis is the Rural Health Specialist at Ascension Seton Burnet Health Center. She is the Community Events Coordinator for Ascension Seton, a member of the National Association of Rural Health Clinics, and has volunteered for several community events for the City of Burnet. Lewis is a registered nurse in the Llano Memorial Hospital Nursing Program.

Her term of office ends on 31 January 2029
