CR North Seniors Parade through Newtown to celebrate graduation

NEWTOWN, PA — Parents, friends, business owners and shoppers applauded and cheered along busy State Street Friday morning as Council Rock High School North's Class of 2024 graduates paraded through town.

As part of a tradition that began during the COVID pandemic, members of the graduating class hopped in their cars and drove through Newtown in advance of graduation day on Tuesday, June 11, where they held their graduation ceremonies at Walt Snyder Stadium.

Their cars and trucks were decorated with their names, as well as posters and flags with the names of their future colleges and universities.

This year, 375 North graduates will graduate; 89.8 percent of them will continue their education at two- and four-year colleges and universities, 8.9 percent will enter the workforce, and 1.3 percent will join the military, either as ROTC, on an appointed basis, or by enlistment.

Leading this year's graduating class are Sonia Sahu, president; Charlie Rambo, vice president; Lillian Tetreault, treasurer; Kelly Lao, secretary; Elaine Wong, public relations; and Nathan C. Scott, assistant principal for the class of 2024.

This year's graduating class has received an estimated $4.1 million in scholarships. Tuesday's commencement speakers will be Taylor and Alexis Fischer, Samantha Herpel and Sonia Sahu, president of the class of 2024.
