Presque Isle man dies after medical incident and accident in Maine

A Presque Isle man died Friday night after suffering a medical incident and crashing into a building on Cleaves Road.

Driver rams building in Presque Isle

Presque Isle police said Richard Prue lost control of his vehicle around 6:30 p.m., drove off the road and struck a building. The vehicle then rolled back across the road and into a field.

Homeowners and police performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation

The homeowner and officers performed CPR on Prue until Presque Isle Fire and Ambulance arrived to provide medical attention. Prue was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police: Man suffered medical complications before accident

Presque Isle Police said: “It is believed that Prue suffered a serious medical event before leaving the roadway, which ultimately led to the accident.”

Law enforcement and first responders

Responding to the scene were the homeowner, Presque Isle Fire and Rescue Department, Aroostook County Sheriff's Deputies and the Maine Warden Service.

Crash is being investigated

Officer Hunter Flynn investigated the accident. Sergeant Kyle White and Deputy Matt Brown performed the traffic accident reconstruction.
