10 Things You'll Learn on Your First Trip to Salem, Massachusetts

As I mentioned on the show and in the article where we looked at all the different places on the east coast of the country that I visited on my vacation, one of my most eagerly anticipated stops was Salem, Massachusetts.

Not only because I was able to visit the site of the infamous Salem Witch Trials, but also to meet some old friends. Also, the very first thing I did when I arrived in Salem was to get a tattoo on my right forearm as a kind of tribute to the innocent people who lost their lives during the hysteria of the Salem Witch Trials in 1692.

The moment I entered Salem, I realized that the town has a lot more to offer than just Salem. It has a very rich history, from the American Revolution and the Civil War to the knowledge of the early settlers that blew me away.

I can't tell you how many tours I took and how many places I visited, and yet I knew that even after three days of exploring, there was still so much for me to do.

There are many misconceptions about the Salem witch trials and about the village itself. I also discovered a lot of new things on many of the tours. As a Michigander visiting Salem for the first time, here are some things I learned about my trip and what you can expect.
