Flood warning for all of South Florida; MIA reports some weather-related cancellations

MIAMI – A flood warning is in effect for all of South Florida until Thursday.

Widespread and at times heavy rain will occur in the area on Tuesday, and at times heavy rain is expected for the remainder of the work week as a cloud of tropical moisture remains over the region.

From now until Thursday night, rainfall amounts of between 10 and 20 centimeters are expected across the region, with isolated cases of 25 centimeters or more possible.

During this time, flash floods are our greatest threat.

Severe thunderstorms in Miami-Dade on Tuesday morning caused some flights to be delayed or canceled at Miami International Airport. Airport officials expect more thunderstorms to occur later in the day.

“Travelers are urged to confirm the status of their flight with their airline before coming to MIA so they can make other travel arrangements from home or hotel if necessary and avoid possible congestion and inclement weather conditions at or near the airport,” an airport spokesperson told Local 10 News in an email.
