June 18, 2024 – Major League Baseball Draft League (MLBDL)
Press release from Trenton Thunder

Your Trenton Thunder earned their fourth win of the season against the Frederick Keys on Tuesday night with a final score of 4-2. Strong pitching and timely hitting carried the Thunder to victory, while several newcomers shined in their home debut.

Drew Christo, a Nebraska product and the Thunder's starting pitcher, gave Trenton five solid innings, allowing four hits and striking out five, before exiting in a 2-2 tie. The Keys struck first in their half of the first inning and the Thunder responded in the following half. Frederick regained the lead in the second inning after Irvin Escobar's RBI single scored Allan Gil-Fernandez.

Tanner Chun tied the game with a two-out RBI double in the third inning that brought Ryland Zaborowski home. After a long tie at two, the Thunder used aggressive baserunning to break the tie in the seventh inning. With shortstop Colton Becker at second and Ryland Zaborowski at first, a double steal was available for the Thunder. Both runners advanced safely, and the throw intended for second base was misfired, allowing Becker to hit the ball home. Becker stole four bases that night, including a home steal to break the tie.

Nathan Archer also made his home debut, bringing home another run in the last inning.

Archer finished the night with 2-for-5, one RBI and one run scored and was named the Hyatt Regency Princeton Thunder's player of the game.

The Thunder's pitchers totaled 12 strikeouts and walked just two keys on the night. Getting the win in their first appearance of the season was USC product Channing Austin, who threw two scoreless innings and had three strikeouts. Alec Rodriguez pitched a scoreless, hitless eighth inning and struck out two Frederick batters. Getting the save in their first opportunity of the season was second-year reliever Brenton Fisher, who had a strikeout in the ninth inning.

Your Thunder will look to get the win against the Frederick Keys on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. Come to Trenton Thunder Ballpark on Wednesday, June 19th for Autism Awareness Night presented by Devereaux Advanced Behavioral Health. For tickets and more information visit trenthonthunder.com/tickets
