From state champions to record holders, the 2024 girls track and field season was one of the most competitive years in recent seasons. Maclay's girls took third place at the 1A state championships, the best finish of any girls program in the region, and the Marauders had two athletes win state championships.

With so much action throughout the season, meet the 2024 All-Big Bend Girls Track and Field teams!

2024 All-Big Bend Runner of the Year: Caroline Couch, So., Maclay

Caroline Couch, a sophomore at Maclay High School, was on the verge of winning a state championship in her high school career. She finished second in the 3200 meter race her freshman season and took second place in the cross country season. In May, Couch topped the podium in Jacksonville, winning the 3200 meter race at the 1A state championships with a winning time of 10:56.20.

Couch is part of the young core that has made Maclay a region-leading runner. She placed first in all but one of the 3200-meter races this fall. Her third-place finish at the FSU Relays resulted in a personal best of 10:44.19. In the 1600-meter run, Couch showed her versatility, taking third at the state championships and winning a regional and district championship.

For her outstanding achievements on the track, Caroline Couch of Maclay was awarded the “All-Big Bend Girls Track and Field Runner of the Year 2024”!

2024 All-Big Bend Field Athlete of the Year: Elizabeth Dowdy, Jr., Maclay

Few athletes are as dominant in their sport as Elizabeth Dowdy of Maclay, who won her third state pole vault title this season with a jump of 3.77 meters.

Dowdy finished first in all but two events this season. He finished third at the FSU Relays and sixth at the Florida Relays, and he set a personal best of 4 meters at the Chiles Capital City Track and Field Classic. Dowdy is a versatile athlete who competes in both the 100-meter dash and hurdles. He won a district and regional title in the 100-meter hurdles.

For her outstanding performance in the pole vault, Elizabeth Dowdy of Maclay was awarded the “All-Big Bend Field Athlete of the Year 2024”!

2024 Big Bend Girls Track and Field Coach of the Year: Angie Milford, Maclay

Maclay has emerged as a force to be reckoned with on the running scene, dominating both cross country and track and field – all under the leadership of head coach Angie Milford.

Milford led the Marauders to a state championship last season and this year her Maclay team took third place at the 1A meet in Jacksonville, the highest finish of any girls track and field program in the area. With two individual state champions, Couch and Dowdy, the Milford team showcased its talent across the board and put on a strong showing at the state championships, which featured eight state placers.

Due to her continued success and outstanding season, Maclay's Angie Milford was once again named All-Big Bend Girls Track and Field Coach of the Year!
