NJ State Museum announces unveiling of Civil War flag in 2024

On Saturday, July 6, the New Jersey State Museum invites you to attend the unveiling of the 2024 Civil War Flag. This beloved tradition will offer visitors an intimate and educational viewing of five flags that will be added to the museum's exhibit, the New Jersey Civil War Flag Collection. The unveiling will take place at 10 a.m. on the New Jersey State Museum's downtown Trenton campus at 205 W State St, Trenton, NJ 08608. Plenty of free parking is available for visitors, including the NJSM parking lot as well as street parking. The afternoon event will be led by flag historian Dr. David Martin of the New Jersey Civil War Heritage Association and NJSM Curator of Cultural History Nicholas Ciotola.

The day's festivities begin with a tour of The Civil War Flag Collection of New Jersey exhibit at NJSM, as well as an overview of the five new flags being added to the collection. History buffs in the Garden State are in for a treat, as New Jersey is one of the few states in the U.S. whose Civil War flags are on display and open to the public. After the hour-long tour, guests are invited to stay for a celebratory reception. The afternoon reception, hosted by Hunterdon 300th, will be held in the museum's picturesque Riverview Court.
