Three men arrested in connection with shooting at Griffin Heights apartment

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Tallahassee police have arrested three men in connection with a shooting at the Griffin Heights Apartments that left one woman dead and another seriously injured.

According to a press release from the city of Tallahassee on Saturday, three men are charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

  • Reginald Mims, 23

After an investigation, TPD concluded that the suspects arrived at the apartment complex armed and began shooting into a crowd of people. According to Saturday's press release, the suspects specifically targeted a person with whom they had an argument over illegal drugs.

Because the shooting occurred in an open area, two women were shot, neither of whom was the intended target. One woman, identified by police as 33-year-old Ashley Emanuel, died of her injuries. The second woman, who was also injured, is expected to survive.

The city of Tallahassee's press release said officers collected physical evidence and witness statements that allowed detectives to identify the shooters and driver.

After meeting with prosecutors, investigators obtained arrest warrants for premeditated murder against all suspects.
