Texan Marcus Shorten is charged with bigamy after his wife found out through a Facebook post that he had married another woman

Double the trouble!

A Texas husband was charged with bigamy when his third wife found out through a social media post that he wanted to marry another woman, even though the couple never divorced.

Marcus Shorten, who has already been through two divorces in his life, married a woman named Tammie in 2012 but decided to separate after seven years together, according to KTRK.

The couple still spoke to each other occasionally and even discussed the legal steps of a divorce.

“I didn't want a divorce. I'm going to get help, Tammie. I don't want a divorce. I don't want my family to see me as a failure,” Tammie claimed her 53-year-old husband said.

Tammie was shocked to learn of a marriage registry for an impending union between Shorten and a new woman last December.

The scandalous discovery forced Tammie to confront her husband about the surprise wedding.

“I told him, 'Before you tell the whole world what you're doing, make sure your business is in order,'” Tammie told the outlet.

Shorten does not appear to have followed Tammie's advice, as marriage records viewed by The Post show he married his new wife on Jan. 27, 2024, at the Fifth Ward Church of Christ in Houston.

The angry wife called the police because she knew that being married to two different women was a crime in the United States.

“I knew it was wrong. Not only did you destroy my life, but now you destroyed the life of another human being and everyone involved,” Tammie explained.

“You can’t just go around lying and misleading others at will,” she added.

Tammie says she feels betrayed and blames her husband for not knowing what divorce is, even though he has “been married several times before.”

According to court documents seen by The Post, Shorten has not yet been arrested despite being charged with bigamy.

Shorten denied to KTRK that he was married to anyone and claimed he knew nothing about the rare charge.

If convicted of bigamy, the penalty is a maximum of 10 years in prison.
