An agency in Massachusetts has reportedly been housing homeless people and migrant families with young children in the same hotels as registered sex offenders, according to the Boston Globe.

The state housed hundreds of homeless migrant families in at least six locations with sex offenders convicted of crimes against children, including pornography, rape and assault, the Boston Globe reported.

Massachusetts Democratic Gov. Maura Healey's Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities declined the outlet's requests for information about sex offenders, but said after the outlet identifies offenders, the agency compares shelters against the registry every six months.

“The safety and well-being of the 7,500 families in shelters is our administration’s priority,” an agency spokesman, Keven Connor, told the Boston Globe. “We will continue to take every step possible to ensure the safety of EA residents and carefully review each situation that comes before us to act quickly to protect families.”

Families in places with sex offenders, such as the Baymont Hotel, where a man convicted of “repeated and indecent assaults” on a girl under 14 is reportedly living, or the Colonial Traveler Inn, where a man convicted of rape and child molestation is reportedly living Perpetrator is alive, did not appear to have been notified, the outlet reported.

A perpetrator living in a former Salem State University dormitory that housed migrants and who was convicted of raping and abusing a child in 2012 has been deported, the agency told the Boston Globe after the outlet identified him.

According to the Boston Globe, Massachusetts has spent nearly $1 billion on housing immigrant families coming to the state, supporting around 23,000 people.

In March, an illegal immigrant from Haiti allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl in a hotel that was being used as a shelter.

The housing authority and the governor's office did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
