Sun limits Caitlin Clark to just 10 points, Fever loses its 10th game

UNCASVILLE, Connecticut — DiJonai Carrington scored a season-high 22 points, DeWanna Bonner added 17 and the Connecticut Sun easily defeated the Indiana Fever 89-72 on Monday night for their 11th consecutive win in the series.

Connecticut (10-1), which has won three games against Indiana (3-10) this season, has not lost to the Fever since July 3, 2021.

The Sun were the second team in the WNBA to reach ten wins this season, and the Fever are the second team to lose ten games.

Indiana star Caitlin Clark finished with the fourth-fewest points of the season, making 3 of 8 field goals and scoring 10 points overall – all in the first half.

With 4:41 minutes left in the third quarter, she received her fourth foul and was not used in the final quarter.

Fans in Connecticut chanted “We want Caitlin! We want Caitlin!” midway through the fourth quarter.

Clark had the ball stolen near the halftime line and Carrington ran the other way and scored a layup just before the halftime buzzer sounded, giving Connecticut a 55-35 lead.

The Sun ended the first half with a 16-4 run.

Connecticut started the third quarter with a 14-6 run and increased the lead to 69-41.

Tyasha Harris and Brionna Jones each scored 11 points for Connecticut, which suffered an 82-75 loss to New York on Saturday.

Tiffany Mitchell added 10 points and Alyssa Thomas had seven points, 18 rebounds and seven assists. Thomas' only triple-double of the season came in the season opener against the Fever.

Aliyah Boston had 14 points, 12 rebounds and five assists for her second double-double of the season for Indiana.

Lexie Hull contributed 10 points off the bench.

Connecticut begins its first two-game road trip of the season against Chicago on Wednesday.
